Has anyone tried/ used this rescue system?  If so, comments?

Re: Rescuezilla...

It seems to be a big download, when I already have the tools: a BL Live usb and fsarchiver snapshots on an external drive.

While there are some open source alternatives, these are far too complex for regular users, and most require knowledge of a command line, or ask too many difficult questions.

That is very dismissive of "regular users"! But having everything on a single usb stick does sound like a handy tool.

Re: Rescuezilla...

I agree... it sounds interesting to me. I have downloaded a copy and will see how it works (or doesn't).

Re: Rescuezilla...

The commit history looks weird.
Essentially a 1-man project with a Patreon page.
And that "bare-metal restore" feature - 1st of all you need to do a "bare-metal backup" before you can do a bare metal restore, don't you?
Upon closer inspection, it just means dd'ing the whole drive.
Mostly harmless.
