BL with MATE

I just installed BL and then MATE core as the DE, figuring it might be faster than the standard Ubuntu MATE. Any thoughts on this from anyone?

Re: BL with MATE

i don't realey understand... There exists dists bsased on debian/mate. Why not use that instead of bloat BunsenLab?

What do you self think? Is Mate for you realy so good that it's worth slaughter BL?

I stopped using Mate for maybe 7 years ago, have not longed back.

But, I think that Debian LXQT, is a more lean dist than Mate...

Well, I just installed Cinnamon, which is actually as fast as Openbox it turns out, and I'm using MATE's Menta window border theme and Moka icons. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!

You use an online image host such as Imgur, then post a linked thumbnail here, not a full size image!
It will be in the format

The screenshooter included with BL, xfce4-screenshooter, has an option to do this for you.

Re: BL with MATE

Mate is in the debian repo, what OP is talking about in BunsenLabs is simply...

sudo apt install mate-core

and then reboot and log-in to the mate session created in lightdm (the login screen).

I've done this many times, and also using Xfce instead of Mate. You have to figure out some autostart weirdness using the 2 sessions, but then they work great together. By doing this you can also have a BL-Openbox session that uses mate-settings-manager (or xfce4-settings-manager) to create a real desktop environment (BL-Openbox doesn't have a session-save/restore feature). You can drop lxappearance if you use one of those settings managers.
