Target only links when searching in Firefox

I had a revelation today.

Use

'

instead of ctrl+f to search only for links in Firefox. It'll box in the most precise and/or first match and will follow it on enter.

Maximum usability overdrive.

Though it doesn't seem to work with buttons and while text fields are in focus.

I've always used "/", Fn+F3 to find within a page, but it doesn't work with some sites where it focuses the URL or the search function instead. I'll try this next time I run into the problem, thanks!

Both ' and / open Quick Find in Firefox. If the site's search bar steals focus from Quick Find, use Ctrl+f instead. That opens a more feature-rich Find dialog at the bottom of the browser.

Re: Target only links when searching in Firefox

Just a quick question related to urls on Firefox.

I was watching this video and the user presses a key on the browser (not sure if it's Firefox) and it opens up a list of hotkeys for each links present in the page. Pressing that hotkey will further open that link. Just amazing.

I searched online to see if such things exists on Firefox, but couldn't find any info. Does anyone know if such a behavior can be achieved in Firefox?

' searches only links while / searches all text.

Great tip, but how can I move to next matching link? Search bar seems to disappear after a short delay and I don't even have time to scroll to next highlighted result.

Great, thank you. Only drawback left is that I have to read faster than I think, or hit ' again to continue searching.
