I had 770 for a while (can't recall which version was it) and they were kinda heavy, so perhaps try those before buying.

I already had ordered 770PROs at 250 Ohm which were totally fine except for the high impedance and the non-removable cable (I'm a cable cutter).

I'll order from thomann.de who have an unconditional return policy, so ordering and returning (although it makes me feel a bit guilty) is no problem.

^^Please, post a short review of those 770PRO when they arrive, I'm quite interested.

Re: headphones / earphones

Klipsch has been the very best in audio speakers and accessories that I know of!

Re: headphones / earphones

I had a Klipsch speaker and subwoofer thing in in the mid-nineties. It sounded horrible and I immediately traded it for a pair of of Snell towers that were the same price and a thousand times better (about USD $800 for Snell and $600 for Klipsch, IIRC). I'm sure Klipsch has improved since then.

Gah! No, I take it back. To the Depths with horn tweeters, give me a silk-dome all week and twice on Sundays. The other cones look nice, though.

Snell is no more, but I believe Peter Snell still designs speakers for Revel...

I thought I read it in a Stereophile article a decade ago (insert glittersloth chuckle here), but I could easily be mistaken.

Off topic, speakers. If I had the cash and the listening room... in a heartbeat.

Re: headphones / earphones

^ Even if money wasn't an issue, I suspect I'd remain a traditionalist when it comes to speakers. By that, I mean old British marques like ATC or PMC (in a properly treated room, of course) though I am highly intrigued by them German horn speakers and Japanese club systems and esoteric microbrands.

Back to reality though; I'm actually very happy with my Phonons and FitEars*. Now if only someone made a proper portable audio player that could double as a desktop DAC when plugged (and charge at the same time via the same USB cable) that's linux friendly and doesn't cost sick amounts of money or employ Android as the underlying OS....

*I'm one of those rare cases that has his ear canals angled backwards, so none of the universal fit in-ear monitors (except those from Etymotic) out there can fit me, not even when I reverse the left and right sides. It's only custom shelled in-ear monitors (or custom tips for previously mentioned Etymotics) for me if I want maximum passive isolation.
