Websites can only display notifications if you gave them explicit permission (about:preferences#privacy → permissions → notifications → settings) or the (i) sign in the navbar for the current site (you need to confirm). Check there and revoke the permission if there's any. Otherwise, check the other sites listed in the settings dialog and revoke if needed.

Also, Firefox addons and Firefox itself can also show notifications.

This could help narrowing th esource of the notification down.

Re: Youtube or Firefox or WTF

Ok i have nothing set in notifications so it must be firefox through the data collection and use via crash reporter perhaps? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/privacy/f … h-reporter
i may have enabled it on first use.

Either that or youtube has an intelligent bit of javascript for this.

Could possibly point to only using alsa as i dont have pulseaudio installed and ive read firefox is unable to play sound without it out of the box?

Re: Youtube or Firefox or WTF

there's a program called apulse that can help with running firefox without pulseaudio.
it seems there's no package in debian stable repos...

Re: Youtube or Firefox or WTF

^ seems the arch version of FF is built with libpulse and pulseaudio is separate. So is this debians apulse similar to libpulse, they seem like completely different packages, apulse is emulation and libpulse is a sound server? So that would mean im just using the pulse audio libraries to interact with alsa i suppose??

https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … /libpulse/

https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … 4/firefox/

And regarding the pop up, i think its this https://productforums.google.com/forum/ … lGZOlCGgag

Seems like youtube checks on you if you have been watching vids for awhile and asks you to confirm by pressing a button, in my case the play button cause the music stopped while i was in another tab.
