Re: Help me to choose how to start with video editing on linux

I've been using Flowblade for a while now and it seems pretty good.  Very stable.

Version 2 just came out.

Worth a look.

My choice goes to https://wave.video. I make monthly reports at my work and use this staff. It has always impressed my employers and colleagues.

Not necessarily. You may not like what is happening behind the scenes, or the product suggested, but it seems to be a legit site.

Yes sites that capture a lot of info about you in a sneaky way is not really kosher. Maybe the site's legit but like what you said before sites that capture info behind the scenes without letting you opt out or disclosing the fact they are collecting information to me seems wrong.

Re: Help me to choose how to start with video editing on linux

^Many many sites do this, including some major important ones.
Agreed, it's wrong. It's good to point that out any time it comes up, but linking to such a site doesn't necessarily mean that the poster was a spammer.

I think it's best to visit the internet with the attitude that everyone is after your personal data, and to take what preventive measures you can at your end. There are no - or very few - good guys.

Better not use the internet then!

Re: Help me to choose how to start with video editing on linux

Sorry, but 3rd-party requests to 20 unique hosts, that's quite a bit more than your average "everyone's a scoundrel" internet.

I only mentioned the site because it seems to confirm the obvious beyond doubt.
OK, assuming the site were legit - the post still has all the hallmarks of a spammer:

  • often resurrecting old threads that have commercially interesting keywords (video editing)

  • no additional information about what this even is about - downloadable software? online editing? something else?

  • not Linux specific

  • post formulated in a non-commital way that does not reference previous posts; can be copy-pasted to many many threads as is

  • the very first (and only) post of a new user is to advertise some SAAS - nothing personal at all

If I was a moderator I'd look at the IP - if I had to bet I'd say India - if it isn't behind some VPN.

Not removing that spam link just invites more of the same.
Don't forget, mods: the spammers know you're there and they're getting cleverer.

Re: Help me to choose how to start with video editing on linux

^ yet you still haven't removed it.
You're being socially engineered, the "benefit of the doubt" escape.
I'm seeing it more and more often here and on 2 other forums.
Like I said, they're getting better at this. They know you don't want to act until you're 100% sure.
