September 2017 Screenshot Thread.

Please use: thumbnail.png <<--thumbnails!

Do not embed images larger than approx 250x250px (62,500px) into posts, use thumbnails linking to a hosted image instead

We recommend http://scrot.moe for image uploads.
Created and maintained by our very own mrneilypops for BunsenLabs.  Thank you very much mrneilypops!

imgur.com:

Avoid the large thumbnail www.imgur.com code, use the "medium" link thumbnail.  An example of the code:

[url=http://imgur.com/your_image_code][img]http://i.imgur.com/your_image_codem.jpg[/img][/url]

Notice the m in your_image_codem.jpg in the IMG code block

Users have been using www.postimage.org in the past as well which does a nice job and is Multilingual.  Upload your image to the site and grab the Thumbnail for Forums code.

Example BB-code from imgbox.com:

[URL=http://imgbox.com/xxxxxx][IMG]http://t.imgbox.com/xxxxxx.jpg[/IMG][/URL]

[url=https://scrot.moe/image/WTH3][img]https://cdn.scrot.moe/images/2016/12/01/screenFetch-2016-12-01_21-20-07.th.png[/img][/url]
                   ^ fullsize image                ^ thumbnail

Here is a generic piece of code if you need to create your own thumbnail:

[url=http://link.to.your.fullsized.image][img]http://link.to.your.thumbnail.image[/img][/url]

Re: September 2017 Screenshot Thread.

Enjoying the new mandelbulber2 package in Helium-dev:

screenFetch-2017-09-02_12-40-58.th.png

Things to note:

  • the GTK theme is not being honoured by mb2, presumably because it's a Qt(5) application and our QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=GTK+ hack isn't working anymore; time to try johnraff's suggestions I think

  • the urxvt colourscheme doesn't work in vim, which is strange because I'm sure I used the same scheme in Hydrogen & Deuterium

  • awesome terminal font, should be the default IMO

Dunno, the thing has some settings on its own

For BunsenLabs, I am using the Less Perfect DOS VGA ttf font to which I linked in last month's thread, it just seems "right" somehow.

For Arch (& OpenBSD), I have switched to bitmap terminal fonts but deciding which one is quite tricky:

Screenshotfrom2017-09-0218-16-42.th.png

That's Dina running in GNOME terminal — only available in a pixelsize of 10 — mapped to the monospace font alias (the only way to set bitmap fonts in that emulator).

The rxvt-uncode windows show profont on the left and clean on the right using these XFLD lines:

URxvt.font: -*-clean-medium-r-*-*-10-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
URxvt.font: -*-profont-medium-r-*-*-10-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

That's for pixelsze 10, replace with 12 for the larger version.

Overall, I'm going with Dina for Arch (full HD screen so the larger size helps) and clean 10pxlsz for OpenBSD (1280x800 screen).

Re: September 2017 Screenshot Thread.

I made this wonderful picture of @temetka as a grub wallpaper.
The path is
/usr/share/images/bunsen/grub/default.png

- the image should have the default size 640x480.
- rename the "old" image to "default. png. old" and rename the new image to "default. png".
- update-grub is not necessary

reboot

the blur caused by the reduction is deliberate   big_smile

Yes, the image is far too bright & busy to work well as a wallpaper with that semi-transparent tint2 but I love it anyway  smile
