My tint2 config

**** This is a continuation from the Crunchbang forums thread: My tint2 config  ****

Hi there!

I'm using two tint2 instances. One as a panel and one as a desktop-switcher. I used to use ipager but I thought I could make my own pager with tint2. So I'd like to share it with you

I just use the mouse scroll wheel on the Tint2 panel or on a free space of the screen to change desktops.

Yes. It's kind of useless when you have openbox + a panel with pager capability. But.. It just looks nice. big_smile

Neat, I like the idea of the more clickable 'buttons' look to them over the default long strips

Re: My tint2 config

A version of desktop switcher. I use mainly keybindings for desktop and window operations, so it works as an indicator for unclosed tasks.

Re: My tint2 config

Both configs look very nice.

I myself use the basic Tint2 that came with this distro and just added a few extra launcher icons for frequently used apps.

Re: My tint2 config

Sorry but i am new to openbox. Can you please provide some more details to how to setup this beautiful config? FOr example how you run two instances of tint2? Second, did you edited also adeskbar? If yes can you provide config for it too? THanks.

Also how you add adeskbar to your tint panel?

The config file was posted, so just run that one wink

To see how to use a command you can use the Help or manpages (There are menu items for these, in "Menu -> Help -> Tint2"). For example you can run several tint2's...

tint2 -c /path/to/tintArc &
tint2 -c /path/to/tintBrc &

If you keep you personal tint2 configs in `~/.config/tint2` they will appear in the Tint2 Chooser utility ( "Menu -> Preferences -> Tint2 -> Tint2 Chooser") - then you can run as many as you like by checking the ones you want smile

Re: My tint2 config

Thank you but my primary problem right now is dual monitor setup in openbox. Right now its working a little bit weird. For example my conky always places itself between the center of my two monitors. ALso i see this behaviour in some other applications. HOw can i fix this?

Re: My tint2 config

@abrasmelin

This thread is for scripts and configurations, so if you need help then could you open a question in Help&Support (and maybe link back to this one)?
NB: Please edit your post to use a thumbnail and link to the full size image - it helps those without fast connections or data restrictions. See  my sig for the Forums Help page wink
Here is a generic piece of bbcode:

[url=http://link.to.your.fullsized.image][img]http://link.to.your.thumbnail.image[/img][/url]

---- /End Mod Mode -------------------------------

A conkyrc config has a placement, so "mm" will place it in the middle of your desktop. A dual screen "centre" will be halfway across, depending on the resolutions. Either edit the file to place the conky, or drag them and set the new position with "Preferences -> Conky -> Pin moveable Conkys".

As I said before, look at the Help pages for configuration options.

For tint2's you can set them to appear on one or several screens, and at sides or top/bottom. ["Menu -> Help -> Tint2"]

For other application windows, have a look at the Openbox settings: "Preferences -> Openbox -> GUI Config Tool -> Windows".
[PS "Menu -> Help -> Openbox" for configuration guides]

Re: My tint2 config

Perfect tint2 ututo, if i wasn't using tiling WM rightnow, your code would be my first choice. Thanks for sharing!

Re: My tint2 config

Ok... so I upgraded from tint2 0.11 to 0.12.12 via backports and I'm really enjoying it. It has nice new features so I started to play with it and tried to replicate windows 10 panel (please, don't hate me!). I came up with these configs and I thought to share'em with you

As you can see, the panels have a working "show desktop" button in the bottom right corner. Just like W10 panel. Thanks @yunn for sharing the script.

Great work, @o9000!!

P.S: It'll be awesome if tasks could show the download/copying progress ... wink

Re: My tint2 config

Find a line for panel items in your tint2rc
and change order.

panel_items = LTCSB

C=clock
See tint2 wiki

Re: My tint2 config

Or you can split your tint2 panel for three separate panels, each with their own config file.
