Couldn't help but begin the party room in a less PG style.
Tonight I decided to attempt to get to know the Negroni... Campari is certainly an acquired taste, and I don't think I've yet acquired it.

I like Negronis, but I agree, they take some getting used to.
I'm not drinking anything now, as it is 7:30 AM, here.

hi rats
long time no talk
but you know the old saying
It's Five O' Clock Somewhere
and although it is only 9:30 a.m. here on the atlantic coast, i'm just coming off night shift so...
"pour me something tall and strong"
crisp, clean, clear, ice cold grolsch
cheers
So come up to the lab...
And see what's on the slab

I had a shot of whiskey, last night. Don't know what brand. It was a toast. Alcohol and I have become estranged, as of late. For me, it only serves as a half-measure. Or a sloppy excuse for a solution. And I'm not the kind of guy to take it easy with a drink. If I drink, I drink, and it wracks my nerves for the next week.

I used to have 'a tipple' after the night shift (T-20years) but now I am getting too old to risk it
I now wait until my brain and body have recovered a bit...
Cheers!
I am now drinking a Diekirch beer

Hi, apprentice. How are things going?
I haven't tried it yet, but I just bought a carton of Founder's Porter at a fancy beer store. I'll try it tonight while I'm watching the football game.

@jdonaghy: This is the reason I had reservations when I first saw this thread here. I don't have any problem with people socially enjoying alcohol, but those who can will never be able to understand those of us who have more troubled relationships with alcohol; there's something fundamentally different about how our brains and bodies respond to the stuff.
I'm reaching for an end wrench right now, which is basically a mock-driver: OJ & tonic.
Be excellent to each other, and...party on, dudes!

The Founder's Porter is the best tasting porter I have ever had. The flavor reminds me of molasses. Also, at 6.5% alcohol, they could have called it a stout.

If you like Scotch, check Ralfy out.

^ Oh, I like scotch and I like Ralfy's info and reviews. Unfortunately, as a retiree I can no longer afford most of the whiskey/whisky that Ralfy recommends.

I also cannot afford any of Ralfy's recommendations (not that I ever could more that a couple of them), but I like watching someone that really LOVES what he's doing.
Maybe it's because he isn't a pro (he's an undertaker in real life) his passion hasn't dwindled with the years...

Best part of making your own martinis is adding as many olives as you want
1 pt Cinzano and 6 pts suntory gin, and 6 olives

I usually put three in my martini, but I eat 3-4 more while I'm making it.

Had 8 cans of "moose urine" (cheap American lager) last night. That's why I wasn't here last night; I've been trying to keep sober and promised myself I wouldn't forum while under the influence. 8 cans is a pretty big setback for me.

I had a bottle of beer a month and a half ago.
Still my only drink of 2015 and yes, I did feel drunk afterwards...

Ooph, I see what you were saying about hesitance with this thread! We can shut it down if it's a dangerous influence.

I'm fine with leaving it open. I'm thinking about starting a recovery thread like the one we had at #! though.

Recovery thread sounds like a great idea. It's not chemical addiction, but I was deeply addicted to MUDs for probably 10 years before Mmorpgs were a thing. Getting off those once and for all was really really hard.
After that I know myself well enough that I can't ever start paying any mmo, or my life will go to it completely. Probably ruin my marriage.

My approach to alcoholic beverages is simple. The higher the proof, the better. DAMN DA TORPEDO'S !!!
btw: 24oz high gravity lager called Earthquake atm, it's 10% by volume, dirt cheap and they didn't name it that for nuttin. Yozwa fellows ! A few of these is equal to roughly an 8.3 on the richter scale.
In other alcohol related news ...
Have been thinking about home brew lately and perhaps setting up a still. Though don't tell the US ATF kay.

As technically for a still setup to be fully kosure x-freecitizen type person must obtain proper permits from the aforementioned alphabet soup agency to be completely legal in their pursuit of high octane DIY spirits.
