Re: What are you listening to right now?

^The odd occasions I check out your links they turn out to be really good!
Liking this very much so far (9:25).

OK a bit sweet maybe, but does what the label promised.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I check them out frequently, but agreed. You'll get an hour of ambient you don't mind but don't really care for, then you'll get an hour of ambient you love. Sloth is an equal-opportunity DJ.

The Orb with David Gilmour, just released, I think (1 day ago? Playtime is 20 minutes and a few seconds)...

You'll all like this one. Or not.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Girl Talk from 2010. When I played this for @glitter six years or so ago, he said it was the best "puka" he'd heard in a while. I think that means mash-up. A common (Hawaiian?) translation would be a bracelet of strung-together shells, so that makes a bit of sense.

I can't name much of the rap (Missy Elliot - Get You're Freak On near the beginning), but I'll try to do a bunch of the old-skool background tracks by memory. I know it starts with Black Sabbath and (NSFW) Get Out Da' Way...

https://vimeo.com/17194640

That next eighties jam is pissing me off, with it's bell keyboards. I hate bell keyboards.

Can't name the next two power backgrounds either.

Here we go... "Tenderness" by General Public. No idea, next, for twerk that ass. Missing one here at the end as well, and the next one, this is tough. No idea again going into the Snoop song. I thought I'd be better at this.

Don't remember that horn section lick by name either, I suck.

Several short references lost on me here. Beyonce with Rude Boy?

Is there Bananarama in my near future?!?

Peter Gabriel, In Your Eyes, that one's easy at about 12:30.

Lean Back over who? A Chicago horn lick into Beyonce again, All the Single Ladies.

Gah! Tough.

Ravel/Portishead with Big Boi rapping, nailed that one.

Johnny Winter - Frankenstein break.

Radiohead - Creep

Prince - Let's Get Crazy

Beastie Boys over a bunch of this.

Walk Like An Egyptian

BANANARAMA AT 23:50!!!

Jackson 5

Anthrax? No clue. Do you wanna die?!?!

Paul Simon, yuck.

Grateful Dead break into INXS

Cream

Shit, another New Wave jam. New Order? A pure guess.

? Dobbie?

U2, yuck

Lady GaGa

Crap, that's only half-way.

Another 90's guitar lick I can't name. Korn?

Definitely New Order or Echo and the Bunnymen. New Order, right? Crap, it's early Depeche Mode.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I have nothing for ten minutes until Madonna with Layla over it.

Shake that Ass over Crowded House - In the Middle of Our Street, a couple of other snippets in there

No clue

Young MC over... what the hell is that? Lady GaGa again

Get Ready, and get ready for this ending to suck. Fine Young Cannibals? Imagine with rap over it? Get out of here.

Cindy Lauper

Noise for a bit, and we're still only at 52 minutes.

Make Me Wanna Shout

Don't Fear the Reaper

Can't Start the Fire

That's enough. Anyway, here's the whole list. It's impressive. 373 samples in just 12 tracks...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Crap, the Portishead song with Big Boi's "Back Up Plan" mashup isn't based on Ravel. It's based on seventies Hollywood movie composer Lalo Schiffrin's tune "Danube Incedent", which Portishead blatantly borrowed/stole/referenced? Homaged? Stole, and damn if the original isn't better in every way...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

OHM Radio is progressing, they have my of year of shows archived. Almost all the links are still just playlists, but at least one of the older ones have a streaming link. This is validating.

https://schedule.ohmradio963.org/WOHM/s … y?layout=1

Link to a show, Ep23, hopefully...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Another good one! Thank you again.

I'd never heard of muslimgauze but he was very prolific and youtube is full of his stuff.
Mullah Said "has been regarded as a definitive Muslimgauze album" apparently, anyway listening now and it's off to a great start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YxQUTVFJ_s

edit: now at ~9m and it's really really good!

@hhh there's a lot of dub feeling that you might want to enlist in a show or two...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^ I think it worked, just edit the link to 1. I think this will stream about 20 hours of music, I could be wrong. At least 1 hour. Ep1 was one of my better shows...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Negative to continuous play. However, adjust the URL and...

https://www.mixcloud.com/ohmradio/dub-u-crazy-ep-2/

https://www.mixcloud.com/ohmradio/dub-u-crazy-ep-3/

https://www.mixcloud.com/ohmradio/dub-u-crazy-ep-4/

Etc..., for about 20 hours or so. Ghost Town at the beginning of Ep3 is really good. That whole hour of music is good.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Suburban housewife-looking woman (Anita Robinson) channels Jimi Hendrix and Arcweld-era Neil Young in a scorching, feedback-drenched guitar solo. I should probably have posted this in the "Metalhead" section but no one seems to go there now;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Qgp2NicF0

I should credit where I discovered this video; it was on the blog of someone who had a hit record in the UK in the late 70s;

No offence meant - I was making an observation about where I thought the video I posted was most likely to be seen.

None taken, just explaining the brief absence of Dobbie, the creator and driving force of that thread. And adding some current metal to it.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Wouldn't play from his website on my phone, but cranking it now on the laptop. Great!

2 hours? I can take an hour intermission in the middle and listen to Ep26 again. Boom! 3 hours of dub.

-edit- Going with 20 minutes/30/20/30/20. Mix it up.

@hhh have you checked out Muslimgauze's Mullah Said yet?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YxQUTVFJ_s

Apart from liking it more than most stuff I've heard recently, I thought bits (or all!) of it might be candidates for adding to a DUC episode...
