The first cut only. The rest of the album leaves me flat.

Hypnotic.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^^ Commenting on my post, hell yeah, he's unintentionally talking about dub. That's my next radio show.

Nice link, al. That first track freaking rocks.

NPR Tiny Desk Concert

^ Oops, I already posted that last link recently, I think. Sorry, Lanois' box-o'-electronica is one of the coolest things I've ever heard in my life.

I don't think I've posted this, Daniel Lanois live on KEXP...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7OoV96Ih3k

He's easily the most innovative pedal-steel guitarist I've ever heard, please post if you have another. He uses what I'm now calling "The Box" here, too. Holy... that is some amazing dub.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Well this one popped up and then I heard it and I had to do a ton of research because it's been a long time since I've been familiar with Chopin, but here it is...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7az1vZDAdqI

Jimmy Page (later playing the Gibson EDS-1275 double-neck on Stairway), Eric Clapton starts at 20 minutes, Jeff Beck (that's him in the white shirt on the right, right?) and Stevie Windwood throughout, live in London, 1983. Looks like Charlie Watts and Ron Wood from The Stones as well on drums and rhythm guitar..  The video drops out frequently. If you're in doubt who's on lead, Page's sound is thin and Clapton's is fat.

The set-list is in the YT description, except for details on Jimmy Page's intro, fittingly titled "Intro".

It's based on Chopin - Prelude No. 4 in E Minor...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TwSkxmLxHQ

It all goes downhill after that.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Steven Wilson - Routine

What do I do with all the children's clothes?
Such tiny things that still smell of them
And the footprints in the hallway
On to my knees, scrub them away

And how to be of use?
Make the tea and the soup
All of their favourites, throw them away
And all their school books and their running shoes
Washing them clean in the dirty steel sink

Routine keeps me in line
Helps me pass the time
Concentrates my mind
Helps me to sleep

Keep making beds, keep the cat fed
Open the windows, let the air in
Keep the house clean, keep the routine
Paintings they made still stuck to the fridge

Keep cleaning, keep ironing
Cooking their meals on the stainless steel hob
Keep washing, keep scrubbing
Long until the dark comes to bruise the sky
Deep in the debt to night

Routine keeps me in line
Helps me pass the time

Helps me to sleep.

Routine keeps me in line
Helps me pass the time

Helps me to sleep.

The most beautiful morning forever
Like the ones from far off, far off away
With the hum of the bees in the jasmine sway
Don't ever let go
Try to let go
Don't ever let go
Try to let go
Don't ever.

There must be something in my eye. No, i'm not crying. Damn...
Don't ever let go
Try to let go

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^ OK, I think that might be a song about someone who's murdered their children. Link to the audio (and video, if possible), please. Gruesome!

From the OHM Radio Archives, Episode 5 from my radio show, Dub U Crazy presented by Kat Skinner. Ep4 was really good, but I think Ep5 is where I put all of the elements of a good radio show together. It's a solid, fairly eclectic set list that's minimally but well announced and the audio levels and flow work nicely...

https://soundcloud.com/hhh-orb/kat-skinner-dubucrazyep5

I think that show originally aired about 10 months ago.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^ Ah, I missed the video link in the post. Yes, mom has killed her children and is having a mental breakdown and then a re-awakening. Screw you, toy robot!!!

The music and animation are fantastic! But a redemption song for a mass murderer? Who does this Steve guy think he is, Sting?

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^ Thanks!

I submit. The newspaper headline is final. I was thrown off by all of the scrubbing the floor, I still can smell them, you know, "wash these hands clean" imagery and lyrics . It's very Shakespearean.

Or maybe she's so devious that she slept with somebody or several people, out of guilt and desperation, in an attempt to cover her crimes of family homicide/mass murder, and managed to influence key people enough to create a fake news story and headline? Eh?

Good song, it's thought provoking!

Or maybe you're desperate not to be wrong? Ha! This is like the third or forth time I've had to set you straight, lately. Pass whatever your smoking, dude. smile

Re: What are you listening to right now?

^ De rien. And while you're high, here's Ep6, I think it's even better than Ep5. I thought that the opening 4 tracks would not hold up, but it turns out the set really is solid and has a great flow to it (my biased opinion, of course)...

More from the Strawbs ("Tears And Pavan"). The harpsichord is one of my favourite instruments and there's a (brief) harpsichord solo on this track;

I came across this the other night. It's a little old, but it was the first time I'd heard of him. Quirky but good.
