That went on for very long... very interesting stuff. I kinda guessed Detroit. Old school electro beats with jazz, all sorts.

It's titled "3 Chairs Detroit", so yeah. Great grooves.

Ooops.
I usually just load the URL into mpv without looking at it - only looked at the web page just now.
The guessing was fun with this one.

So your son is excited by... music.
He watched iCarly when he was six, I bet.
I jest, that was actually first-rate, all the way, I was pleasantly surpised. Your son has good taste in music.

Nice! Mom had albums by The 5th Dimension on vinyl when I was a kid!
"Wedding Bell Blues" - https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=7q21B … q21Bky7r2A
And we had the Portrait album (https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=lohkN … TKNLMc_wA8) -- can't tell you how many times I played that one! The "Medley" (with words from the Declaration of Independence) made a big impression on me.

Very nice. Listenable, but with rough edges. Analog, but with synthesizers. Improvised, but not jazz. I love this sort of music.

...and most importantly, it's not the "hey look, we're a bunch or Berkeley grads having a muso conversation amongst our uptight selves, come check out our chops!!" kind.
Only found out about them after their second album (around 2019, iirc, probably posted on this thread). You can check out the label they release on for other acts you might enjoy; https://lasape.bandcamp.com/music

You inspired me to have a listen, and I like it a lot too. Thanks glitter!
But "not jazz"? Sounds sort of jazzy to me, at least some of the time... Sometimes a bit like the Grateful Dead, sometimes a bit like what I'd like to do if I played better...
Yes, very nice.

I think he just means it doesn't sound overly straight or bop kind of jazzy.

Just pop some shrooms, and get that keyboard player you used to jam with to accompany you.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, yes he was really good. That was some years ago though. He's not playing much these days, don't know why.

I considered changing that sentence, but I think my meaning came across anyhow.
I love improvised music that is neither straight jazz nor full-on hippy-sh!t.
I love improvised pop music.
As a whole, this GODTET music isn't jazz.
Of course jazz isn't a strictly defined term, so feel free to disagree.
And BTW, I didn't say I don't like jazz!
And yes, glitter, I also like the non-arrogant attitude I sense there, maybe it's the recording technique?
Kinda reminds me of BEAK>.

How I imagine the conversation going...
Lynch: "Lounge, but spooky."
Bada: "What, like Portishead?"
Lynch: "Yeah, but no turntables, no vocals and no orchestra, but somehow both darker and jazzier."
Bada: "So Chet Baker meets a gloomy Richard Wright?"
Lynch: "Um... yes. Who's Richard Wright?"
Bada: "Say no more, give me 3 weeks."
Lynch: "A week and a half. Now who the friggin' fuck is Richard Wright?"
