Run plank and show the settings gui with
plank --preferences
I guess you create your own settings file.
Indeed, that worked, thank you!

Brilliant, this dock is exactly what I was looking for (me also thinks it's the most convenient on the left side). I could not find a "make it autostart" setting though. Do you know maybe how plank-autostart works on #bĺ?

You can add a line like this in your ~/.config/openbox/autostart file:

EDIT: compiled volumeicon from upstream git [1] and it now has "Linear" and "Decibel" scale options for the slider:
Nice!

I've been trying to figure out a while how to separate workspaces in tint2. If you look at ohnonot's post above, workspaces 4,5,6 (love the color btw) have the same color, separated only by the numbers. I would also like to set a fine separation line where the tab begins (and the previous tab ends).

@martix
Menu -> Help -> Tint2 -> Tint2 Wiki:Configuration
You can cheat it by having panel background elements, which are unavailable for tint2, as part of the desktop image

Thank you for the tip! If I understand it correctly, I should make on the background picture a line, where I want it to be on tint2, so it looks like it's on the task bar. Btw I installed obamenu-generator, so there is no menu/help for me anymore. I found help though, in Accessories.

So you see one of the reasons why I detest an autogenerated menu

Try the much simpler obamenu. It just sits in a corner of the regular BL menu - or wherever you choose to put it.

There are a lot of FluxBox users that would disagree, damo.
But OB is a "User Generated Menu" and like you, that's the reason I use it.

I wanted to give obamenu a try before and remember downloading it. Somehow I did not get it working. I searched for a step by step tuto and installed obamenu-generator in the end (which I like btw. gnome-help is not really an issue). I still would give obamenu a try, it's just not clear for me, how.

There is an extensive help textfile in the obamenu.tar.gz, as described here

Do I need to install pip?
pip is already installed if you're using Python 2 >=2.7.9 or Python 3 >=3.4 downloaded from python.org, but you'll need to upgrade pip.

I'll have a look tonight.
I'm back on Adwaita, I don't care how unfashionable it is
I really like it, I'm not just using it because FF (46) isn't honouring my GTK3 settings, that would be silly...
